Kiteboarding UK May 2006Sunday 21/05/06 Sophie Says Well I got back this morning and Gosh I miss that constant blue sky and sunshine already! At least i've brought some wind back cos' it's rock and roll time in Lowestoft today. the first week over there was constant 20-25 mph wind but unfortunately the wind let us down in the second week and it was underpower time every single day.... lucky we had a 16m switchblade which saved the day and i even pulled a nice front loop with it.... gosh i was pleased with that one. it's a shame we couldn't get much practice during the week cos my learning curve which was exponential in the first week kinda stalled in the second but again the general atmosphere was brilliant and we turned a bad situation into something positive by putting in "big bird" competition with that switchblade ....
Windy day in Lowestoft, it was busy: Dean (shockwave 16m), Stuby (xbow 9 or 12 not sure), Chris E (Vegas 06 12m), Steve (Vegas 12m), Sophie (diesel 9m), Rob G (Nitro 12m I think), Chris (a C02 I think not sure well say a 12m), Jaimie (C02 12m).

Kiteboarding UK March 20066/03/06 Hunstanton Alright Sarge Jimmy here just to let u know me and Tony out today 26/03/06 top day up at hunny 18mph best day i have ever had both up and riding up wind and nice and warm just thought i would let u know. Thanks Jimmy, good to hear, Tony is on it now! 25/03/06Hunstanton Today with south westerlies at 17-18 forecast it was a call for Hunstanton. Dean, Jaimie and Aaron left at 6.30am, my god some are keen indeed! Caught up with them up there. Today it was perfect conditions: sunny and yes it was warm, nice clean wind and no wave of course. Aaron was on his flexifoil 15 (a storm i think), Dean on 20 and Sophie on Strike 17. A real spring session, we stopped because the wind dropped about 1.30pm not because our bodies were numb with cold. You could even hang about the beach for a wee natter with people without shivering. Gloves and balaclava are becoming not so useful. Sophie 24/03/06 Los Alamos, Spain. Firstly it was all going well with a slightly offshore wind, naughty but just about acceptable. Then it turned went offshore and the wind swirled and drop dropped and all the kites fell out the sky in 30 seconds. Everybody swam in. Luckily it warm water with no tide or currents. So not a big deal unlike at Lowestoft it would have been serious trouble.
23/03/06 Los Alamos, Spain Another good day late afternoon 13m up 16mph side shore ok but soon dropped off aftewr about 3 hours. 16/03/06 Stubbie and Chris E out at Lowestoft in morning i thinks it was North East to East and they said 12m . So good wind in Lowe at moment. But they said its very very cold. Oh I do miss the snow and rain! Guys this is 2 1/2 hours away nearly as long as it takes to drive to Hunstanton in those vans. New Kiteboardinguk forum soon. Los Alamos, 5 minutes from Malaga airport! Sarge 16/03/06.Well Tarifa has been 13m everyday for about the last 10 days upto about 14/03/06. But just recently its gone offshore till Saturdayish coming, however Malaga has started working so today was another 13m day in Los Alamos, Torremlinos. This was after i had my session, and then started to get pics so its half or a third the original crowd. Within 40 minutes of the wind up you have alot of kiters on it. say 20-30. I don't think anybody works in Spain. Siesta yes is busy. We should have siesta in Lowestoft.
Saturday 12/03/06 Busy day more like the 150 kites that Tarifa is used too. But at the end of the day when the sun set only 3 out. Including me. HEHEHE! That's just plain rude! Sun 05/ 03/ 06 OK to break the monotony, here is Tarifa. Cross On 15mph gusty 14m North Toro. AH Pro. I'm sorry to post these pics but I couldn't resist, please forgive. My God, how blue is that sky. little bit of wave action. Great day. Helped out by a nice german couple using the Flysurfer Speeds. Lots of friendly faces, Gisela 11 year old womans world champ out practicing on those Airush Pilots 7m I think it was. How good is this little Chica. Not that many kites out considering it is the weekend. Normally it is in the hundreds. Sun 05 06. Top day had by all at Sea Palling. Some said "the best ever", but I'm sure I have heard that before. Any details......Chris E and Stubby were out..... Stubby 9m xbow overpowered and pooping himself a little so he said. Sat 04 march 06. Well Where is all the Lowestoft crowd? Got back just for the week end and it is bloody freezing in the uk. Anyway Got a call from Dean going to Hunstanston on saturday .... leaving 7am. Well the forecasts were not that good on friday evening: North east 14-15mpm so it was touch and go, i have to say the idea of getting up at 7am on sat, 2 hrs drives and no wind in the end didn't appeal. But hey then i just couldn't say no and so i remained on my "good" behaviour on friday night and in the morning up we went. It was cold indeed, the beach was frosty! We first went to Brancaster but the tide was too high and we couldn't get near the water with the van. So we went to old hunny where it was Westerly blowing 17-20 (Yeehoo). After hesitation we decided on 16m for Dean and 12m for Sophie (as opposed to 20 and 17).... Only 2 other kites there so we had the entire beach for ourselves and it was a brilliant session. The wind was very gusty and it picked up as well but i hadn't had such a good one for a long time. We only stopped when indeed we couldn't feel our our arms and legs move and our faces were frozen into a grinning expression. Thanks Sophie
By the way Tarifa, working well. If any locals are up for it blast down the 3 day long weekend works. 2 1/2 flight from norwich to malaga thursday (flybe) flight or late on thursday from stanstead easyjet, back late sunday. I know the flights work perfectly from Luton. Torremolinos, Los Alamos and Playamar quite a few sessions this week and Marbella working well and Tarifa has been blasting. Hire Cars are £50 a week if you know where to look. Check out our tarifa/costa del sol review. Check the weather and do it last minute, the days are long and its like summer in England. if its raining don't bother it sucks then. Email me a line, I try and help out. Of course ryanair goes to Jerez and BA to Gibraltor i think. For short term stays its 22-36 a night for your own room, sharing it can come down a little. Sarge

Kiteboarding in WalesBest -Alexandra Anglesey kiteboarding pics.
Hi There KiteboardingUK, There was a really strong wind on Anglesey (ynys mon)- north wales UK last weekend. (it has now blown in a lot of snow!) i went to Din Llygwy beach on the NE coast and saw 2 kitesurfers (think ? maybe pro , with Rhino logos on at least 1 kite) and a couple of windsurfers making the most of the wind. i'm not a professional photographer or anything but i took a few nice pics (tho missed some of the more spectacular leaps - 15 -maybe 30 ft apprix and at least a couple of mad jumps and twirly things :-). v v storng wind really taking the board high once some momentum and high waves (presume also good surfborading conditions and no rocks on beach or at least not visible from shore :-) :-) ) it looks like a lot of fun and i'd love to have a go myself!!!! i climb so quite good upper body strength anyway i will have a go and see how esay it is to uplaod a couple of pics. also got good shot of red kite with galloping horse appraoching in background alex Thanks Alex, great pics, good to see the hardcore still out playing. 01/02/06 All started on thursday: strong NE wind (must have been 25+), the sea was very rough , only Chris E and Stubby were at it. Sophie wasn't up for a dramatic day so I sat that one out. Friday 27th same deal much less wind: Stubby xbow 12, Chris E 16, RobG Nitro14, Sophie(12). Wind dropped and some of us stopped, too underpowered. Sophie ditched that kite in the breaking waves, but somehow it went back up as she reached Pakefied.

Kiteboarding UK Jan 2006 Saturday 28 top day: Chris and RobG were first in the morning when the tide was just starting to ebb, also Stuart and James both on 14 (1 blue and red Naish and the other a Cabrina white/blue CO2 I think), then Chris (12), Stuby (xbow12), Nick(xbow16), Sophie(12) turned up and it was a long session for a winter day. Also Kierr (xbow 12)christianning his new dry suit, ocean rodeo and Gul NP available from shop if a bag is your bag ;-))) , he seemed happy bunny. Jaimie trying waterstarting but those waves didn't give him much of a chance. Sunday 29th another good day, a bit less wind than yesterday but somehow the waves were bigger or maybe it was just a tide thing. First out was Aaron on an Airush 12 (a flow i think), the tide was pretty high when he went and he quickly got washed out by some nasty waves, Dean (16), Sophie(12), Stuart and James (both 14), Chris(14), Stuby (xbow12), Nick(xbow16), I think ChrisE was on 16, Paul (don't know his 2nd name but he has a wee cute blond daughter) on a yellow cabrina(12). Another long day in that cold NE wind but it's all been worth it. Thanks Sophie.
Missed some days please send us your sessions 12/01/06 Moved flight for the 3rd time to Saturday now that cheap flight i got to france aint so cheap anymore. But it was worth it. Friday, Well I got my call 07:50 that was cool got an extra 20 minutes in bed. The local crew wanted to meet down the beach 07:30 whattt the f%$£. The shop doesnt open till 10:30 everyday , this is going to hurt. Well to my surprise its blowing 22mph ish and increasing. Well to my surprise Gman 14m Cabrinha nitro is already out and blasting, Stubbs 12m Crossbow, Sophie 12m Cabrinha Element. Chris E 16m North Rhino 05, Sarge Takoon Skoop 11.5m . Its beauty of a morning and fresh very fresh cold yes but we are all kitted up so its not a problem. What can i say a stonking day and an early start the just kept picking up it was so good that it became a marathon session i think we did 2.5 hours in the water, maybe more, it felt like we could go on and nobody was willing to leave the water. Everybody had a blast, top sesh is all i can say and its late 02:30 and i got a plane to catch. I need sleep. The lucky Lowestoft crew have got another stonking four days of solid southerly. So its meet down the beach early everyday for the next as the tide is perfect for early morning seshs. Nice to see Josh and his dad turn up later, wondering where everybody was, we had packed down and dusted. Josh had a great session as well and his dad stood by and kept a close on on him. If people can email me there session thats would be good as Im going to loose track Again. Here is Gman with the sunrising! Friday the 13th went by with a blast.
That's typical i book a flight to France and bang this happens, well I moved it to friday and now thinking about moving it even further back, somebodys going to have some fun.
8th Sunday Jan Kiting sunday was no good, a few of us down the beach rigged up our biggest kites (i.e. Dean Naish 25m V4, Stuart C02-18 and James Strike-17 (or maybe it's the other way round as i confuse these 2 guys), and another guy, Jimmy i think his name, with a 14m blue Toro. The wind peaked at 13mph at some point but that must have been a gust since none of us could actually get on a board, even dusted out my square 2 for the occasion but it didn't really make a difference. Stubby did show up but didn't even rigged up his 16m crossbow.... i think wee Stubbs would probably manage without a kite but never mind. I needed to dry my kite so i had to fly it anyway and a way to keep myself entertained i asked Dean to teach me jumping Thanks Sophie Well its seams all the action was at Gorleston, Had an epic day kite buggying yesterday at Gorleston beach with the light easterly breeze and the low tide. About 12 other guys out on buggies and mountain boards blasting from one end of the beach all the way down to the other as far as you could go, a real long run. Never had it so good, as there was a fare amount of sand showing at low tide, 3.5 mtr Air Traction up and goin for it. Thanks Paul. Maybe we should get the mountain boards back out 10" wheels and blast it down the beach at low tide. On days like these. Something we mite have overlooked.
7th Sat Jan, mmmmm! James C, Stuart L, Sophie. 2x 17m Strikes up and 1 Cabrinha co2 18m. The wind at 10:00 was strong 14mph and more so they rigged up 14m to start with then it started dropping. Sarge came along late rigged up 17m Strike as well with North 136 converter board, a fairly good lite wind combo, but the wind kept dropping now it was 11 mph. Shucks we spent a few hours down the beach, but it just did'nt happen Light winds and onshore Easterly / east south east. .We were up against it. We all got to ride, but it lacked power and was marginal, what a shame! With only 4 out it could have been a nice and quite sesh with no tail chasers. Hey there is always tomorrow and it going to be busy, that i already know by the phone calls, fingers crossed on the wind. Meanwhile Tony, Jimmy and Peter went upto Sea Palling and scored a little more wind up there, they had a quick session and then the wind dropped resulting in a little swim for Tony whos kite started to drag him where he didnt want to go. 5th Jan Thu Classic day easterly 14mph to 16mph and maybe a bit more, Stubbs 12m xbow, Sarge 17m Strike, Gooch 14m Cabrinha Nitro, hilly 12.2 Airush, Josh 7.2 black tip nitro, bradley 10m Naish Areo 1 , Flexi time Sophie is down the beach the minute a kite is launched as her office overlooks the kite beach, very handy that. i think that was it maybe 2 more, not a bad turn out for split second mid week. The wind was strong and solid. "Very dense wind" as Stubby says, we agreed. Fuuukiinnnn freezing came to my mind. Any way we all braved it how cold is it right now?, well if i was to say if you swallow water its so cold that it pretty much makes you choke and gag just with the reaction of the freezing water on the back of the throat, let alone it being salty. Some good air was had. Most were playing it carefully and because it was onshore we were happily cruising up and down in the shore break the length of the whole beach to the corner of the pier. Any problems you get washed up on the beach so its pretty safe for winter kiting. Hilly chased the shoreline alot not quite getting beyond the breakers but managed to kite half way to Kessingland just on the inside section....Why not. Some serious speed could be had in the shallows cutting up the flat froth. Local groms Brad and Josh managed to persuade dad down to the beach. Where he kept a close eye on them. It was a great day. Stubby did some great wave riding and just dominated the break blasting about all over the place, the freedom and upwind ability of his xbow 12m gives him that, you are constantly looking over your shoulder thinking he has sneaked upon you again. Gooch blasted some big ones with a few rotations and landed them. Steve missed out, Steve you need to get into that Sophie, Flexi, when you want thing, will i work, wont i work. Non! J' kiteboard Cest jour.. 4th Jan An easterly was building all day but peaked just as it got dark, Stubby reverted to flying his 16m co2 on the beach to test his new 5th line system that he has added to the Cabrinha RECON system. 3rd Jan. Josh went down to walberswick for the SW 14 mph and scored a good session on his 17m Black tip. Most of the local crew spent alot of time in the shop then missed the sesh the rain came in and it was all over

Kiteboarding UK December 2005 1st Dec Saturday a minibus up to Hunstanton was organised and many went on that and scored some great winds, 15-20 mph SW of course Gooch Stubbs Carver Chris Dean and some others went up and added to the kiteboarding population of about 20 ish kites. Jimmy and Tony also made there way up to Hunny and are doing very well by all accounts. They stayed at the old Hunny location while the others stay up at the new hunny area. They all had a grand day by all accounts and the wind really put on a good show. The timing was also perfect. 28th Dec Lots turned up on the beach early Lowestoft again the wind was light to what was forecast most went out but again underpowered, the wind was NE 14 mph but flukey with lulls, kite were dropping out the sky which aint cool in the cold conditions, at this time of year you do not want to be swimming. The turn out Dean and family, Sophie finally got her fifth line soughted on the Strike 1 17m. Nick and son, Carver and mate, Chris without Gooch unusual, Hilly, Sarge. The wind continued to be flukey and nobody would chance it as it just wasnt consistant enough. A pretty mild day by all accounts, temperature wise. That afternoon it got really cold and into the night it snowed and froze and then the fog came in..................................................... 27th Dec Gooch Chris Dean Sophie all went in at lowestoft and some others. NE 15 mph. All had okay sessions but a little under pwered with 16m being the average kite. All out of the water by 11:00 they had an early start, then Sarge went in again underpowered session on a 11.5m Skoop and the new converter 136 board.Came out when the snow clouds approached. Same again tomorrow except more easterly. Jon and Girlfriend went to sea palling but the snow clouds hit there early be more North and spoilt their session. 26th Dec 05 North 14 mph Gooch and Chris went in at Kessingland, 16m Co2 however a little underpowered and not a great sesh, the tide are perfect first thing in the morning. Sophie went to Sea Palling and got slightly stronger Northerly. Sophie and another were the only riders out. Everybody waiting for the 27th the wind goes NE so its Lowestoft and its should be pretty classic especially if the wind forecasts are reading low. Merry Christmas Everybody, I know we are all a little wind starved at the moment but its just around the corner. Some heavy stuff as well. Im just getting my new Christmas presents geared up the The F-ONE Tribal 8m Scarey!! And the North Converter which i have set up in the wave riding positions. New kite, New board in Nukey Knarly Conditions. Oh my God! Get ready for a hell sesh!
Remember Christmas Day at dead on 10:00 its the crazy Lowestoft Charity event where all the locals do the swim and dip in the sea for charity. Hundreds of really up for it people. We will try and make this event and kite if there is wind, but so far to date never managed to get up in time. I'm back for Christmas and New Year to help Ben in the shop for the Xmas sales and generally party a little. So I notice that after Xmas day the wind is picking up, but also unfortunately the temperature is dropping. Neverless I just got my latest kite the F-ONE Tribal (A kind of bridled Classic curved tipped, 5th line system with alot of range and depower but keeps the solid powerful boost feeling, or so i hope) in 8m so hoping I will have a blast on that, I keep you posted and if I get a chance will write a review. I don't believe there are many of these kites available but they are about to realised in the UK. Between this and the North Vegas 06 which we are now taking Pre orders on, we have 2 solid alternatives to the Bow kites which are currently dominating the market at the moment. I still am very much drawn to classic kites, mainly because I'm a stick in the mud and have them dialled, which wind ranges for which kite size, and i know when i pick this kite up for this wind speed I'm going to have a great session. But thats another story. Since i have been back I have been surfboarding at Kessingland with Ross who is back from Plymouth Uni. So I can tell you, I know how cold the water is now. F*(*) cold without a balaclava you havent got long before hyperthermia sets in. And being out in the water with only a surfboard. It been along time since i felt vunerable in the water, the rips are moving fast and your paddling strength is at 50% or less just because of the water temperature. So for those people coming to Lowestoft to kite over the Christmas period. be very careful, stick with the main group or don't bother. We have some knarly conditions forecast with Strong Northerly and Easterlies and it will be bitterly cold maybe snowing soon. I would say unless you are expert level and have been kiteboarding constantly in the colder temperatures. Dont bother! going in the water. Sea Palling and Hunstanton are the top places for the colder heavier winter conditions for the beginner to intermediate riders. 3 +4 December The Goochmeister and Chris and Carver were out and a few locals plus Hamish non local hot rider has been visiting his family again and shown the local crew a few new tricks. Hamish just cant stay away from the place and its always good to see him out in the line up. Sophie and Stubby been going to Sea Palling but the wind has been light and i dont think they have had any classic sessions up there. Rob has gone to the Philipines for 4 or 5 months. Lucky B$$^%@'. I know Jimmy and Tony a couple of new guys have been upto Hunstanton a few times, and Jimmy has been having good success up there with the flat shallow water. His upwind riding is just about cracked. It doesnt take that many sessions in really good stable conditions to really nail the upwind thing and to work out the best positioning of kite and board to go upwind well. The flat water is the key element that Hunstanton provides. I've been travelling heavily myself so I'm afraid I have lost track of the wind diary for most of November and December Sorry! but by all accounts it's been a very bad month with about 7 sessions in the last month. We have had cold weather with the snow flurrys and this came to a shock for most. Please email me your sessions and i will post them. 8th November Nick went out 1130 to 1400 tide was working. Not sure about the conditions. 6th Nov Sunday. Well Nice surprise here everybody planning to go to Hunny or Warbleswick for the forecast SW. But low and behold a stonking Southerly. Well up there 26mph and all the rest, gusty and nasty. A few texts were flashed about and the word was out. Nick on it first the 12m crossbow eats it up. Lots of standing around and talking as it is knarly today. A crowd formed on promenade. Rich B, Paul W, sneaked off. The crazys went in Chris E now sporting a nice scar in the back of his leg where his kiteboard fin took a deep slice. Another battle scar to add to his ever growing collection and Chris has a lot of extreme sports scars. Steve went out 8m vegas, Sarge 9m best yarga. Rob came up and put on a good show on his 9m Storm 3 boosting highest and giving it some kite looping. High tide was midday so the swell was building and some big lumps were pushing thru. It was a great day for watching and seeing people bottle out when a big wave broke and then quickly change direction and race out of there before the big lumps eat them. Steve got a top wave and toessided it right on the peak. Sarge nailed a few and the whole session became a calculated risk for most go big or wave ride, either way if it went wrong the pier was a little to close as new face on his naish 6m nearly found, jumped in front of pier, not a good move on any day. It went wrong got a good horizontal lofting, body slammed the beach, but managed to keep the kite under control all to close to the pier. It was just one of those days. We had a chuckle at that one. Last out was Steve who had the whole place to himself for 30 minutes. Everyone out and finished by 1230. Sophie rigged up the 9m diesel but can still remember the last groyne kissing affair, sat it out and decided to take pictures instead with her new camera. Which also takes video, so watch out guys when you are getting changed. A top day for all those that braved it, and for those that went home afterwards to a sunday roast cooked by the missus and then feet up in front of the fire. I would imagine a perfect sunday. For me i had a can of red bull and a bag of chocalate Malteses. What happen to Goochmiester and Chris, we missed the entertainment and mayhem! This would have been a great day for this class, double act to show us a few powered wipe outs! 5th Nov Sat , Jimmy Sarge Andy Sophie Dean all went to Walberswick none had any luck the expected SW wind just didnt pick up in the afternoon and with wind with tide after lunch it didnt look good and with a little to much west giving it slightly offshore. So done local pub Achor for a steak burger on the way home. Top burger. Yep Sarge is back from Tarifa trip and as most already know didnt get to kitesurf once, fuming yes, while Lowestoft has had wind almost everyday of his trip and then the day he left the wind picked to give a perfect 18 mph. Sods law! |

Kiteboarding UK Thursday 27th October30th Sun Oct SSE Lowestoft txt said 4 kiters out. at 0841 in the morning, ooh little keen that. 29th Sat Oct SSE Lowestoft, Loads out apparently at main beach. Sat 29th OCT was a mixed day with Myself, Chris elliston, Stubby, Dean, Nick, Rob Gooch and a couple of others turning up at lowestoft at around 1500hrs to wait for a new front to kick in promising 22mph. Most of us had a short play but it was very up and down. By 1630hrs most had packed away leaving Myself stubby and Chris and Dean messing in the poor wind.. Then Suddenly!!!! it all happened and we had a lovely session myself and Dean on 20m C02, Chriis 20m Rhino, Stubby 16m C02, with Chris and Stubby attempting to out kite loop one and other until dark. Thanks Hilly As far as I can make out Lowestoft has had solid 22mph plus winds everyday this week. Thurs. 27t Oct Again Lovely southerly wind and Myself, Dean, and a few others off Lowestoft. Thanks Hilly Wed 26th Oct Southerly 24mph losing track now if some can email n update or txt , as Im in Tarifa with no wind. I went out on my own in Walberswick on 20m CO2, just sammy the seal for company, he kept an eye on me!!. Returned to Lowestoft at around 1600hrs and the wind had swing from sw to southerly and a Gstar and a couple of others were out at Lowestoft. Thanks Hilly Tuesday 25th Oct the wind starts going southerly 20 mph with the onset of constant Southerlies.

Kiteboarding UK October 2005 Kiteboarding UK Cabrinha Xbow Another funny was Stubbie doing the biggest and longest jump he's done so far on his 9m Xbow except that he left his board behind, and his little legs were flapping away. Panic sets in and you cant help but shake those legs. Shame the camera missed that one! Ben Sharpe came down and had a later session than us, he sent us his pic, looks like the tides dropping so probably and 16:30 I guess.

KiteboardingUK September 2005Plenty of sessions had in the last week too many i lost track sea palling, Lowestoft busy again now that summer season has ended and we are now back to using the main beach at Lowe again. Lowe been popular 2nd Oct nice session had at sea palling, Stubby and Jonathan both had some top sessions up there. Stubby ripping on the new crossbows, everybody is loving the crossbows, words used to describe these new bow kites, awesome, unbelievable. And just watch them and see for yourself, indeed many still refusing to believe the hype. It's just like the good old days when the windsurfers dissed kiteboarding and now they all kiteboard. So get over it, bows are here to stay and are going dominate whether you like them or not. Sorry guys the debate is over, well overdue and finished. Stubby broke his board kite loop, landing a little heavy, Nick came back from Cyprus hols where it was windy 8 days out 10. Snapped his board as well. Jim A came back from his hols in Spain where the Airport handlers snapped his board. Chris E has managed to fracture a few ribs kite looping, double back loop kite loop went horribly wrong stoving him into the water. Monday 19th Sep, a flukey SE 18 mph crept in, in the afternoon with Tim, Sophie, Chris, Sarge SABoy Sean. Tim dropped his kite on the groyne after being picked up and thrown. however no damage, very lucky as kite landed in between. Sophie on 17m strike Chris 20m Flex Strike 13m also Co2 Sarge Nova 12m wind dropped at end of day. Average sesh beatiful day. Sarge currently nursing 2 badly tweaked, bruised ankles. Even having trouble walking up the beach. Sat 17th Sep, Sea Palling some of the crew got in here late in the afternoon, not sure how that session went Weekend 10th Sep, Stubbie Chris and more were are sea palling again on the crossbows everybody is lovin them. Stubbie dropped his kite right in front of rocks in the first 5 minutes, had a few missed heart beats there. But managed to relaunch just in time before shredding the crossbow on its maiden voyage. I have missed a few sessions here apparently a couple of seshs at Lowestoft with some newbie getting a little carried away and getting dragged up the beach. 1st Thursday September Steve and Sarge went to Walberswick to catch some SW winds but nop it was not to be our day. Ant went to Hunny had a very mild short session on his Strike 17m. But no real wind or excitment. DooooH!

KiteboardingUK August 200530th 31st August down the beach Kessingland, but no real wind. So some teaching going on, but no real wind, shame a lingering summer hazey fog bank just stopped the wind that was forecast from appearing. Sarge Mr SA 1 and Mr SA 2 all down Lowe in the evening and Sean with the Phantom until it went dark but wind just did'nt do it and a lousy downwinder was all that happened, then when we rigged down the forecast wind came in SE 16mph plus but it was dark. Choker! 29th August Bank Holiday Monday, Goochmeister and Sarge went to Kessingland not so good SSW and a little wind shadow at Kessingland bay, So all packed up and headed for Pakefield, where they could see the kites on the horizon. Got up there had a very average session and the wind started to twitch and stall and a few wind shadows happened. Then kites start falling out of the sky. Unfortuanetly the stronger SW winds which were giving the guys a great session at Hunny got the better of us. Nick had got in earlier and had the best of it early. Everybody else later turned up but no one got out. Gooch had a fair try on his strike 17m sarge also took a strike 17m but went downwind a little to much and eventually the kite fell out the sky just after Nick 20m went down. It became one of those windsurf kitesurf sessions where everybody stands around with there equipment rigged up but not alot happens apart from Chat and more chat, however lovely sunny day and lots of talent kicking about so all is positive. 28th Sunday August again the SW are still hanging in there, big kuk crew goes upto hunny up early was Dean and family, Ant and family, Steve P and Wendy, Paul Y all left very early and had top sessions up there. However for the stragglers who couldnt get out of bed on time. They checked the wind before leaving and unbelievable but true it was coming on strong at Pakefield,Lowestoft with a 25 mph Southerly. Strong solid S wind when the whole country is blowing SW high winds and Lowe is South, bless, so no driving for Nick Sarge, Goochmeister, Chris G, and a few others. It went top sesh Nick on a 20m BT Sarge overpowered on 12m Nova went down to Skoop 14.5m and then in the afternoon Skoop 11.5m. Chris G Co2 14m Goochmeister 17m Strike and then BT 12m got thrown in at the end. This session turned into an epic Pakefield , you know that when Joe public start lining up on the beach and taking pics. lots of excitment for all Nick boosting large on a 20m BT, Sarge triple kitelooping himself towards the groynes narrowly saving his life and kite with a full safety release. You had to see this to believe it! All this after a big jump went wrong. Then Sarge nearly took out Andy Bruce local windsurfer caught in the shallows. With a walloping power up which missed windsurf and Andys head by a matter of inches at about 300 mph. Please don't try this at home kids. Top sesh had by all and the wind just kept on coming. Mr SA and Mr SA2 both got themselves a little sesh as well. 26th Friday August back to hunny again SW 12-16 mph. Nice session in morning, the biggest swall came thru again and blew everyone of the beach. Sarge Greg Sophie Ant all got a sesh in before being nuked of the beach, luckily everyone saw it coming. Another late night sesh at new hunny. Still didnt see any smiling kiteboarders, my god they take it seriously! 25th Thursday August SW 14mph went to grumpy hunny usual flat water chop usual swall came thru and blew everyone of beach . Started at old hunny then late session at new hunny late session excellent rain stopped and wind came on good Sarge playing with his new nova 12m. Ant arrived with family, but to late go in on second session but got earlier sesh at old hunny. Lots of grumpy kiteboarders, stonking sesh in evening, lovely sunset but not a single smile from any one up there. Maybe they are fed up kiting the same old same old. Flat chop. KUK crew went up 21st August Sunday to sea palling 20 mph ish NW wind dropped off to nothing about 16:00 no info on this day Friday 19th August Sarge went Sea Palling using the new takoon nova now started at NW xshore started 14mph perfect flat water the flattest for a long time ended up 26-28 mph Stubs Goochmeister went up later maxed out on 10m and 12m it got gustier and conditions went down hill later Sarge returned at 19:00 it was nuking with high tide rolling 3 ft waves and pissing rain gusting over 30 mph, he did'nt bother. Had a whole week of NW everybody was going upto Sea Palling but it was gusty and crap rainy conditions. Sunday 14th August Chris E Mr Malloy ended up at Walberswick top session by all accounts although the wind did pick up and Chris had to come in a rig up another kite. Mr Malloy is back from Dubai and enjoying his time in Lowestoft. The wind did pick up in Lowestoft for a few hours 14 mph South Dean 18m Sarge Strike 2 17m Nick 20m Steve 18m Sophie 12m then 17m the wind dropped and went SW shoot a quick session then it was over for the day, we should have gone to Walberswick. Saturday 13th August. Another fluke SE at 25 mph pulled in 13:00 everywhere else was getting SW it stayed for 3 hours So Nick Sophie Dean Steve Sarge got it. It did slowly drop off to 14mph however which dropped later and eventually went SW. Goochy Chris Chris and some other went to Walberswick for the SW and had a session there. (Goochy is nursing a perforated ear drum thru kite looping and crash and burn. And yes he had a Gath helmet on at the time). Then at 18:00 it went south again and started to blow 22 mph everbody to tired to rig up again. Friday 12th August a nice breeze sneaked in about 13:30 from the NE about 12 mph. Dropped of by 15:00 to 10 mph. Thanks to all those that turned up for the Cabrinha demo day it was a great success. And Thanks to Nick Goldspink for his support and help organising this. North westerly Tuesday, Wednesday 9th 10th August. with fairly strong wind however it did eventually tail of on Thursday/Friday. Sunday 7th August was a Kessingland day big swell kicked in and 3 went Stubs apparently was ripping and Rob and Slingshot Gary came up and kicked the arse out of it, Kessingland that is! They mixed it up real big time with the surfers that were taking advantage of the big surf. Epic session had by all. Its a good thing we know those surfers pretty well coz by all accounts by time the waves started to form on the shorebreak they had been ripped to shreds by these lads. Doooooh! I missed this sesh but i can just imagine all the waves coming in with deep gouges all ready ripped out of them. Saturday 6th August. Its was Hunstanton that turned it on with Nuking conditions. However some went to Sea Palling and unfortunately the wind dropped by time they rigged up there equipment. Wednesday 3rd August KUK Crew went to Hunstanton. Sarge, Anthony, Aaron, Raf, Rich A, Greg moved to Brancaster as westerly. Wind was up and down and then no wind then picked up again. Kites used everything from 17m 13m strikes Cabrinhas to 9m Slingshot fuel for the gusty high winds. Waves at end of day, high tide. About 10 kites out. All in all a good day. Usual flat chop/ ripple but Nice and sunny all day. Great Sunset. Long drive, fukin k knakrd. Tuesay 2nd August about 1430 the wind picked up from the SE at 18mph increasing to 22-26 mph Kessingland had a slight wind shadow and light wind. So Aaron packed down 2 kites and moved up to Pakefield where everybody was in it was white caps everywhere the tide had just turned at 1500 and it was perfect wind against tide, we had 3 hours of strong winds slight gusting and then 2 hours of solid winds, so everybody went into trick mode. This wind stayed up until dark most came out of the water about 2100 epic sessions. Sophie was ripping and stoked, Stubbs, Tubbs, Sarge, Steve, Aaron, Shaun, and a couple of newbie, Mr South Africa. Another top session. We all kited until our arms fell off and the wind just wouldnt drop.

KiteboardingUK July 2005Sunday 31st July Many went to sea palling but it was to west and slightly offshore. So they continued north to cromer/ east runton. Big waves were roaring in and James, Jonathon, Matt and Stubby took on the pits. Down side was it was high tide. So very tricky. Some stayed at sea palling hoping for the wind to turn North West as forecast but it did'nt. So we only flew kites. No play at sea palling Stefan unfortunately drove from London. Ant and Pete from Cambridge with the families in tow so all was not lost, apart from the small fortune the kids spent in the amusement arcades oops. It was an unlucky day for most. But for those who drove further north a top day in one of the biggest swells to hit the east coast in a while. Surfboarders everywhere all the way back to Lowestoft. Some even tried to surfboard the 6ft shore break roaring in at Sea Palling. Luckily they didnt break their boards. Heavy shorebreak. Saturday 30th July. Another non forecast stonking wind from the SE 18mph to 24 mph. One call from Nick and everybody was on it. Some were out on 14m others 16m 17m and 20m. This wind came from no where, everywhere else said SW and inland it was west. However on the coast it was South. Sarge went out on a borrowed 14m north toro, no problem loads of power as he had walked a 17m strike 2 down.. Nick 16m bt and Stubby 14m co2, went out and then suddenly the wind died and went SW which cannot be kiteboarded at Lowestoft. They only just made it back to beach. There is a wind shadow at Lowe on SW. We all cursed as by this time 7 had turned up Richie 14m bt chris 14m co2 another strike 13m and more. That was 1 hour of wind and we only had 20 minutes riding. As we stood around cursing, in 20 minutes the wind came around to the south again and started to stonk 22 mph again. When you have the biggest wind turbine overlooking the town centre and beach you can see every increment of direction change. All was cool every run you took out, you check the wind turbine direction if it stays south your getting back to the beach. This session turned into epic proportion, huge jumps. Sarge went to 17m and wore a depower rope out in one session. In and out on full depower, jumping on full power. What a sesh. As the wind lightend to 16mph solid everybody went into trick mode. It was a totally top session. Nick went from 16m to 20m Black tip as the wind lessened. But most stuck to there original kite sizes. The water was pretty flat, no real chop, wierd. Much later the wind tailed off and stragglers started to arrive. And they were gutted, everybody on the beach was beaming except for those that missed this one, so sad faces. Everybody else buzzing. Friday 29th a sea breeze SE of 14 mph most of the day at lowestoft stood there watching the airshow with a solid wind blowing. The Airshow was great and worth missing a session for. Not shown on XC weather again local sea breeze. Wednesday 27th july a few got in at pakefield lunch time NE 18 mph to 25 mph gusty wind with tide average sesh. Unfortunately Hilly repaired his airush kite which he dropped on a groyne only a fews days ago and then dropped it on another groyne and shredded it again. Holy Smokin moses, that sewing machine is gonna be busy. That evening after tide changed chris sarge steve sophie stubs and a few newbies went in 16:30 hrs wind was 18mph NE upto 26 mph. Sophie was even complaining "I cant go downwind, how can i go downwind" mmmm no pleasing some, terrific session, Steve and Stubbie went out to the offshore sand banks. A little gusty and time. I went from 14.5m skoop to flexi storm 2 17m (well overpowered) then back to 14.5 m skoop. Everybody surfed to exhaustion. Added fun was being told to get out of water by the coastguard they had this RIB with a strobe light flashing real cute. They pulled up by stubbie and said helicopters coming, go in gbfgjfjfjgfgfjjnfjnbnjnfbn. Sarge spoke to Airshow control tower. What they meant to say was go into the shoreside and kiteboard there. The display was going to be practiced a fare way out from the beach as the helicopters were coming to practice for the airshow. No problemo,it was probably better that we left the water for a while I think i know who would win Lynx helicopter versus cabrinha kite mmmm. So we got a free helicopter display as well as a Top session. We are all looking forward to the 2005 Lowestoft Airshow. I hope everybody has a fantastic couple of days. For me it is literally the highlight of the year. Sorry big airshow fan. Monday 25th july same day not so nuking in lowestoft Kessingland slight north west so everybody went to kessingland Gxxxx chris steve sophie and about 3 others unknown had good session from afternoon upto 2000. Steve out on banks, big waves to start, waves and wind dropped to low tide and evening. Top sesh ending mellow. Liked Gxxxx front loop landing on the face of a wave then straight into shallows at speed then stepping off board in inches and ended up running up the beach. Rad! Monday 25th july sarge went back to sea palling in morning started with North 14 mph by lunch it was nuking onshore and to dangerous. No play. Sunday 24th July club day went to sea palling with matt coddy jason and dirk ant paul sarge nick and about 5 from Norwich. Top day north east to east 18 mphcross on found a shelter flat spot and no one came over apart from one who crashed his kite and ripped the canopy from both sides of the centre strut, nasty! Local lowestoft crew went out a pakefield had a good sesh by all accounts. i think a crossbow turned up but it didnt launch at the end of the day wind picked and it chucked it down. We stayed till the very end. Friday 22nd Sea palling NW 19mph great session. Early on Matt, Coddy Norwich crew, Ipswich crew and then the locals from Lowestoft Sarge Steve and Sophie Yarmouth boys Ben, Andrew. Great session went on into late evening then wind dropped and tide turned. Session tailed of real quick. Waves picked up on the high tide and Steve got on a big one overhead right in front of Sarge going out and rubbed it in big style. Wednesday 20th July a crew along with Gxxxxx and Gary went go to Hunny but on driving up it was obviously nuking up there. So turned back and went to Aldburgh. on a dodgey NW or W had a good sesh but Goochy was blasted into the marsh land overcooking it a bit, but all safe and in one piece. Some members called from Hunny and said it was Nuking a bit 25mph to 40 mph gusts. Monday 18th Locals Steve and Nick and Rich hilly went in at lowestoft, fickle wind all on 16m and bigger. Hilly has mishap and end up shredding his Airush on a groyne. Sun 16th July Club day. SE 15 mph Wind came up in afternoon classic sea breeze hot day 25C and wind picked up 15 mph at Kessingland, we had 1 x 16m 1x8m, 1 x 13m 4 x 17m 1 x 19.5 cabrinha contra with twin tip.All out with twin tip on the high tide. On the drop tide Sarge went to surfboard. 2 or 4 in at Pakefield. Wind stayed to evening and picked up at Lowestoft. Nothing recorded on any XC weather stations. Classic sea breeze day. Locals plus Aldburgh crew. Thursday 13th July,SE 13 mph Wind came up locals had day time sessions at SE 16 MPH then late evening after tide turned 2000 hrs 17m Strike session Takoon Vegas 137cm board. Going upwind no prob in front of pier. Just Sarge out in evening. Kessingland and Sea Palling have been going off for the last 4 days on the trott we have had wind its now going North East so everyone is at Kessingland for saturday and sunday. High tide is around mid day great waves riding being had as some swell around. Low tide is at the end of the day for the low tide pool. We keep posting the pics. We are going to start keeping a diary of the wind on this website because its getting out of hand. The last few months have been mental. Maybe we will even get a kite forum. This is a pic of Kessingland Saturday 09 July, half in water half on beach. Bad pic getting new camera soon.
