Why is Insurance Important?Insurance is important especially with all these "no claim no fee" solicitors around. If you injure someone with your kite, you might have to go to court, it could get messy, and who needs the stress? Insurance for £35 or cheaper is all about peace of mind.
You can become a fully insured member of KiteboardingUK by going to the BKSA British Kitesurfing site which is www.kitesurfing.org and joining the BKSA if you put down KiteboardingUK as your chosen regional club then it will be done. Many have done this - it is easy and all done online. There are other options for becoming an insured member of KiteboardingUK and we will post these later.
If you want to join KiteboardingUK without insurance, you can join through the Forum if you can include extra information like your address and contact details all the better, but not essential. There is a lot more info on the website if you email us then we will send you more details about the club and the general set up. Club days are Sundays and the location where will be is up to Sarge (IKO/BKSA Instructor) as he checks the wind and chooses the best locations, and generally he will be teaching on that day as well. You will need to call him and when he is in the water he leaves his phone with someone else. However he isnt always around therefore the Forum "meet down the beach" section can be used.. The Club days are pretty informal and its more about kiting together as a group and sharing lifts. Its good to turn up at the beach and recognise a few faces. And get a little advice from KUK instructors if needed. However the land kiters are more difficult to track down as they are probably going to be at different locations or using a different part of the beach. Especially at Kessingland as "buggy beach" is further south of the kiteboarding kite and teaching Zone.
This is what the BKSA have to say about joining clubs when applying for insurance: You can also join a kite surf club when joining the BKSA from just an additional £5 per annum. We will then give them an additional £5 - spending the money locally on the beach. For details of all the regional clubs see the clubs page . The BKSA is actively encouraging and supporting regional clubs to form - we are here to help. Clubs are the lifeblood of the sport insureing a local point of contact for any issues that may arise locally. Councils and bodies prefer to talk to clubs as apposed to individuals.
